GPS Tracking for Personal Vehicles

Your car is one of the most valuable things you own, but once it leaves your driveway or is parked somewhere out of sight, you have very little visibility over it.

A GPS tracker gives you a simple way to keep track of your vehicle from your phone or computer. You can check its current location, review previous trips and receive alerts when certain events occur.

Whether you want extra protection against vehicle theft or simply want to know where your car is, Overwatch Tracking gives you access to the information when you need it.

Know Where Your Vehicle Is

With GPS tracking installed in your car, you can check its location whenever you need to.

Instead of relying on where you last parked it or waiting until you notice something is wrong, you can log in and see where the vehicle is. This is particularly useful for cars that spend time parked away from home, in public areas or in long-term storage.

If you have more than one vehicle, they can also be viewed from the same tracking platform.

Get Alerts When Your Vehicle Moves

You don’t need to constantly check your vehicle to keep an eye on it.

Geofences can be created around locations such as your home, workplace or storage facility. If your vehicle enters or leaves one of these areas, you can receive an alert.

This can provide an early warning when a vehicle moves unexpectedly and gives you the opportunity to check what is happening sooner.

Added Protection Against Vehicle Theft

A GPS tracker won’t stop someone from stealing your car, but it can give you something extremely valuable if it happens: location data.

If your vehicle is stolen, you can check its location through the tracking platform and see where it has travelled. This information can then be provided to police rather than relying solely on sightings or waiting for the vehicle to turn up.

For theft protection, a discreet hard-wired GPS tracker is generally the better option. Because it is installed within the vehicle rather than plugged into the OBD2 port, it is less obvious to someone who doesn’t know it is there.

See Where Your Car Has Been

GPS tracking isn’t limited to showing you where your vehicle is right now.

Your trip history allows you to look back at previous journeys and see where the vehicle travelled. This can be useful if you need to check when a vehicle arrived somewhere, where it was parked or the route it took.

Rather than trying to remember what happened days or weeks ago, you have a record available through the tracking platform.

Suitable for More Than Your Daily Car

Personal vehicle tracking can be useful for almost any vehicle you want to keep a closer eye on.

It can be used for everyday cars, 4WDs, second vehicles, classic and collector cars, motorhomes and vehicles that spend long periods in storage.

For vehicles that aren’t driven regularly, GPS tracking can be particularly useful because you may not physically check on them every day.

Choose the Right GPS Tracker for Your Car

The best tracker depends on how you use your vehicle and how permanent you want the installation to be.

> PLX8 OBD2 GPS Tracker

The PLX8 is the easiest option for most compatible cars. It plugs directly into the vehicle’s OBD2 port, so there is no hard-wiring required.

It’s a good choice if you want a simple installation and the ability to move the tracker between compatible vehicles when required.

> PLX5 Hard-Wired GPS Tracker

The PLX5 is designed for a more permanent and discreet installation.

It connects directly to the vehicle’s electrical system and can be installed out of sight. This makes it particularly well suited to vehicle security and theft tracking where you don’t want the tracker sitting in an obvious location.

> PLX3 Portable GPS Tracker

The PLX3 provides a portable tracking option without requiring a connection to the vehicle’s OBD2 port or electrical system.

It can be useful when a permanent installation isn’t suitable or when you want the flexibility to move the tracker between different vehicles or assets.

Track From Your Phone or Computer

You don’t need any specialised equipment to access your tracker.

Simply log into the Overwatch Tracking platform from your phone or computer to check your vehicle’s location, view previous trips and manage your tracking features.

If you have multiple trackers, you can manage them from the same account rather than using a separate login for each vehicle.

Simple GPS Tracking Without Lock-In Contracts

Our GPS trackers are purchased outright, so the hardware belongs to you.

Tracking is then available through a monthly or annual subscription, giving you the flexibility to choose the option that works best for you without committing to a multi-year contract.

Whether you’re tracking one personal car or several vehicles, you can choose a setup that suits how you actually use them.
